Student Loans? Beware

David Adams May 14, 2015

If you are choosing between a federal student loan and a private student loan, remember that federal student loans offer lots of workout and/or deferment options that private lenders do not.  Also both federal and private student loans are currently  non-dis chargeable in bankruptcy and will be non-discharged for the foreseeable future.  While most debts can be discharged in a bankruptcy (chapter 7 or chapter 13), even many taxes, student loans remain bulletproof.  Beware, beware, beware.  Even when co-signing.
