Motorcycle and Auto Accident Issues in Kansas Personal Injury Cases

Important information if you are injured by a hit and run or uninsured automobile in Kansas.

  1. Every auto and motorcycle policy in Kansas includes at least $25,000.00 insurance to protect you if you are hit by an uninsured vehicle. (note: you may specifically, in writing, waive this required coverage when you first take out your policy.)

  2. If you own more than one vehicle you get to take the highest uninsured motorist coverage available. (Example: your motorcycle has $25,000 uninsured motorist and your car has $100,000 uninsured motorist coverage. If you are hit on your motorcycle by an uninsured or hit-and-run motorist you will have $100,000 coverage. Warning: if you waived the uninsured coverage on your motorcycle but have it on your car, you will not be able to get the uninsured driver coverage on your car.)

  3. Your insurance may deny coverage if you cannot provide some proof (other than your own statement) that the accident was caused by a vehicle that left the scene.
